NEW eBOOK OUT NOW!

I’ve written a book! It’s a 39-page eBook about the mindset of songwriting and how to overcome things like writer’s block and lack of inspiration. It’s packed with tips, tricks, techniques and ecercises and draws on all the knowledge I have from many years as an artist, teacher and student of music.

Professional pop, folk and indie songwriter with +20 years of experience from the real world, mentors songwriting students on all levels.

Songwriting at its best is simple, beautiful and extremely enjoyable and fulfilling. It's a magical thing to behold, when all the pieces of the puzzle falls right into place.

I wouldn't have written many songs though, if this was the only method there was.

Songwriting is also rewriting a lyric for the 10th time, spending years finding the right chorus to a promising verse and trying 17 different arrangements for that one song you really believe in, that for some reason just won't work no matter what instruments or grooves you throw at it.

Becoming a better songwriter is just like learning an instrument. You get better when you practice. And you get better a lot faster when you isolate your problems, work on them and practice the right things. This is where I come into the picture. I can help diagnose what you need to work on the most and give you the right tools to improve.

Roughly speaking we can divide the building blocks of songwriting into 5 different main areas: Chords, Melody, Rhythm, Form and Lyrics.

More universal concepts like expression, phrasing, contrasting, theory, genre, etc. come into play in all of these as well.

There are no rules as such. The music and the good song always wins. But it’s good to have tools to help you, when you sit and stare down at the empty white paper. Tools to inspire you to advance.

We will start where you need to improve the most and then work around all of these concepts and talk about many different techniques to combine them all in one songwriting flow. We will discuss creativity and analyze your favorite songs as well as your own songs and I will give you exercises and hopefully inspire you to create. Maybe we’ll even write a few songs together!

Basically my lessons are for everyone who wants to improve their songwriting skills. If you want to learn how to play guitar, tell you how a compressor works or have existential questions like wether or not to get a manager for your band or sign with a particular label, we can also work on that.

I teach in English, Danish or German.
